Seeking Assurance From God
“For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19 AKJV)
If we lose faith, we have lost Hope in His offer of forgiveness and rebirth, perhaps we have backslidden to where we had started: Hopeless and without Him that brought us up from the mire of sin and death.
Yet even to the most fervent follower, the most dedicated believer, at time of crises perhaps - or times of trial our faith is tested. Isn't it then when we must turn to Him more fervently and seek His ultimate mercy as He paid the price for our transgressions on the cross?
We are so fortunate, beyond fortunate to have this wholesome sweet abounding, unrelenting and uniting Love God offers us. And having said that, lets keep in mind His perfect will is true to His promises urging us to keep constant with James’ admonition that “faith without works is dead”; as is also works without faith in the Holy One – the Anointed One of Israel. And through His people Israel, to all people through Christ Jesus/Yeshua haMessiach.
We need to consistently turn to Him for assurance that He is saving us every day and every moment from the enemy’s voracious appetite for devouring souls, especially the souls of God’s called ones. To gorge himself with God’s people utterly and completely. We must turn and return to Him, our God, every day and every moment of every day. The assurance we see is the assurance He offers, yes from the cross.
As we all have “fallen short of the Glory of God” (Romans3:23 NIV) as transgressors and yet learned to “hate our sin, our sin nature” we must turn and return to He who washes us clean – the Holy Spirit through Christ Jesus. He promises to be there for us in keeping with His Essence. We simply need to get on our Knees and seek assurance of our relationship and standing with Him. We need to remember His sacrifice, His Resurection, His word(s) and especially His promises.
How do you seek assurance from the Lord when tested by circumstances or trials?
Do remember that He wants you to seek Him and His assurance in all things?
